Traveling Miss Lazy - Steph
Hello. Is it me you’re looking for?

Hello people of the Earth. My name is Steph and I’m Traveling Miss Lazy.

For more than ten years I have had no permanent address, thank you very much. I started traveling when I was 19 and you are probably thinking I was some kind of privileged rich kid who used her parent’s money to travel around the world and never had to work a single day of her sweet young-ish life. Some of you who thought that could not have been more wrong and how I wish it was the case. I would probably be sleeping in hotels now, or eating sushi everyday, or just simply eating in restaurants without having to think about budget and keeping it cheap, but I don’t. I came from a simple family, who never had a lot, and I am still living a simple lifestyle, just in more countries than most people do.

Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated by a lot of things in the world, beautiful places that I have seen in movies, interesting cultures I have read about in books, languages that I wish to learn and speak one day, and the many kinds of people that I wish to meet. I wanted to travel more than anything and I made myself feel like I didn’t fit in where I was. I didn’t know what I wanted to do in my life when I started University and everyone I knew seemed to be in the right direction, or at least in a direction they chose.

I felt I was being left behind by people who were getting busy to settle into the ‘real life’ which I wasn’t ready for. I had an amazing childhood and I didn’t want to forget how to live with excitement and appreciate every little thing out there. I wanted adventures and a lot of stories that will live with me forever or at least until I accidentally get myself killed by food poisoning.

I pursued traveling to find myself and the life that will make me happy. I know it has been ten years and I still feel kind of lost. Or maybe I am not lost. Maybe, this is it. This is the life that I have been searching for. That’s why I still keep going. Until I find a place where I can stay long, I suppose, or probably when I can afford to buy a house somewhere.

Oh Universe, please give me some luck to afford a house any day now. I’m sort of ready.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) I ask myself about myself:

Who are you and what are you really?

My name is Steph and I have been traveling since 2006. I’m human, just a little strange.

Where on Earth did I come from?

I was born in the Phillipines in the late 80’s and grew up there (amazing childhood I might add). I am half Filipino and half German, in my 20’s. I’m at the ‘you don’t have to know how old I am because age is just a number’ age.

When did I start traveling and why (because I obviously haven’t said enough)?

I started traveling back in 2006 when I was 19. I moved out of my room in the Philippines straight to my Auntie’s couch in Norway. Life hasn’t been the same since then (or easy). I travel because it keeps me alive, happy, and sane (so far). I just love it. I work, live a frugal life, and save up for travel. When the money runs out, which it does more quickly than working for it, I go and do it all again. Work, save, travel, panic, starve and repeat. It’s been my way of life in the past 10 years. My mom probably isn’t proud of it but I don’t think she has any choice. Or maybe she doesn’t even know what I’m up to or at least until she added me on Facebook a few years ago.

Traveling Miss Lazy

Was it scary for me?

In the beginning, of course! I was shy and I absolutely had no idea what I was doing. It all could’ve gone wrong at the start because I have never ever traveled alone and be away from home that far (Norway is pretty far from the Philippines)! I even cried on my first night being away but that feeling went away the very next day. I knew I had to learn how to live on my own and be independent. I had to be brave to face a whole new life. I wasn’t and still am not, but I manage somehow.

Where on Earth have I been to?

Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vatican City, Vietnam

(Country Count: 72)

Where is my favourite city and country?
This is like asking what is my favourite meat! It’s hard to say when I have over 70 countries on my list and a terrible memory. Japan is actually my favourite country and my favourite cities would be London, New York, and Tokyo. My favourite meat is anything but Rabbit.

Why ‘Traveling Miss Lazy’? Am I really lazy as a person?
Well, to be honest, when I have to work, I work hard and this website did not come up using my magic. But I do know it needs more updating. Sorry readers. When I travel, I try to make sure I see and do a lot of things but when I don’t, I’m not really too bothered.

Although now, because of this website, I’m gonna have to work extra hard (probably) so you can enjoy wasting your time on here. I do WANT your support and love. Thank you!

Your Kind Traveling Miss Lazy,

I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.
